Introducing... red or white's first wine club

As part of our introduction to the Birmingham market, we are starting, and invite you to join, Club Deux.

For $30 dollars a month, we will choose 2 interesting and note-worthy bottles for our members to learn about and try. We’ll include educational notes on the wines themselves, recommended pairings, and maybe a recipe here and there. This will be a fun way to expand your repertoire and will be a great value to boot. Join if you are someone who likes to try new wines and wants to do so in a thoughtful way.. but please know you can discontinue anytime you like.

We will notify members of the selections each month and have them ready at the store for pickup (curbside if you prefer).

Your card will be kept on file (in our secure token form) and will be billed the first week of each month when your wines are ready. The more customers who join the more fun we can have, so feel free to share this with all wine-lovers in your life. Also, bear in mind that membership would make a great gift idea for the wine aficionado who both loves a great deal and is open to a little adventure.

Do you want to Deux? To say “oui” (or if you have any questions at all), send us an email at bham@redorwhitewine.com or give us a call at 205-538-5213.

Bodegas Lutúe Rosada 202

La Mancha, Spain

Founded in 1954 by the original 131 families from the town of Villanueva de Alcardete in famed La Mancha (made famous from our friend Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quixote). They left a legacy of hard work, attention to detail, and pride in their wines. Currently 450 families, descendants of the founding members, with an average estate size of 7 hectares. Until recently it was all consumed in Spain. Finally they started exporting in 2007 and we are the beneficiaries. 100% Tempranillo, which is the same grape that makes Spain’s most famous red, Rioja.

Let’s talk color. Most of us are used to the pale salmon color of a Provence rose. This is deeper red. Some people are afraid that these wines are sweeter but the color has absolutely nothing to do with the sweetness level. The color comes from the skins of the grapes and when a good winemaker decides that they have the flavor intensity and taste profile they want, that is the color.

Great nose, with flavors of red fruits all finished with a brisk, lively finish. Chill, relax and enjoy. Bonus: it’s organic

Domaine Faillenc Sainte Marie 2020

Corbières, France

Remains of a Roman winery have been found at the site of the Domaine Faillenc Sainte Marie, a testament to the ancient tradition of winegrowing at that location. Situated just outside of the tiny village of Douzens a mere 12 kilometers east of the ancient walled city of Carcassonne, Faillenc Sainte Marie has recovered its past allure under the careful guidance of the energetic Dominique and Marie-Therese Gibert. This is a small property, with only eight hectares of vineyards stubbornly clinging to the rocky foothills of Mont Alaric.

The Corbières Rouge is made from a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault. The harvest is partially destemmed before going into the fermentation tanks. The different cépages are fermented together, benefiting from the long maceration period to extract the maximum of flavors and allow them to harmonize before being pressed and aged. This is a wine with enormous character often showing a rustic, somewhat “animal” aspect married to a vivacious wild berry symphony of aromas and flavors. To me that subtle smell of brush adds a touch of rusticity keeping it all very real
